I'm playing Veteran Level Difficulty and everytime I say yes to infinite ammo before starting the game I never get it while i'm playing it. Do you have to beat the whole game on Veteran Level Difficulty before you get infinite ammo?

I am playing it as of regularly. I didn't think it started out that well like the 4th did but it got much better for me as the game progressed. Some of the bosses are just awesome to face.
